The country as a whole continues to be a popular place to purchase your own place, either as your own home or as an investment property. Many people like the idea of owning a holiday retreat in the picturesque Bay of Islands, using it for their own escapes or planning to retire to the winterless north in later years. These subtropical towns are known for their fantastic climate, sparkling bays, boutique vineyards, art galleries, cafes, crafts and historic buildings.
